Girls Bowling All Conference 2018

Holiday Bowl in Struthers, was the site, as the All-American Conference hosted it’s end of season tournament. Sixteen boys and 16 girls teams bowled on the Kegel 3240 Challenge Series Pattern, the same pattern being used at the Sectional and District level competitions on the way to the OHSAA State Finals Tournament. At stake, the tournament championship team honor, and the tournament MVP in each tier. The teams bowled 2 team games, followed by 5 Baker games, with total pin count deciding the winners.

For the Red Tier, on the girls side, Austintown Fitch ladies squad led by Senior, Erin Harper (187-179, 366), rolled a total 2163, followed by Boardman(2075), Harding(1996), Canfield(1960), Howland(1832), and Lakeside(1728). Harper was the Red Tier girls tournament MVP. For the boys, the Howland Tigers, with a total pinfall of 2448, claimed the victory. Rounding out the scoring, Harding(2427), Austintown(2400), Boardman(2163), Lakeside(2045), and Canfield(1914). Austintown Fitch senior Mitch Desaito nabbed MVP honors with a 183 and 203 for a 386 set.

During the tournament, regular season tier champions and All-conference honors were announced. For the Red Tier regular season champs, Warren Harding and Austintown Fitch were co-champs for the boys, while Austintown took the crown for the girls. White tier had Struthers and Lakeview share the top honor on the boy’s side, and Hubbard Lady Eagles win it for the girls. Blue tier saw the Girard Indians take both the boys and girls championships.

In other conference news, the state tournament trail got underway last weekend as bowlers around the state started their bid for a championship when they are held in Columbus in March. Sectional tournaments were held with advancers earning a spot, as a team qualifier or individual qualifier, for the district tournament to be held at Wedgewood Lanes in Austintown on Feb. 24 and 25 for both divisions I and II. District qualifiers include: Austintown Fitch (boys and girls), Girard (boys and girls), Hubbard (boys and girls), Lakeview boys, Liberty boys, and Struthers boys.
