The all-weather surface track at Greenwood Chevrolet Stadium is named after Fitch Alum and longtime Austintown Athletics Hall of Fame Track & Field Coach, Mike Garcia. The state-of-the-art facility contains an 8-lane, 400-meter track surface, a high jump area, long jump and pole vault runways, along with adjacent shot put and discus areas. The facility is an annual host to the OHSAA Regional Track & Field Championships, the Mahoning County Championships, and the Optimist Invitational Meet which draws participants from around the state of Ohio.

The surface underwent a resurfacing in the summer of 2024 thanks to grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. The renovation project was funded partially through the Scrap Tire Recycling Grant which utilized discarded tires for the surface. Approximately 6,000 tires were used in the project and saved from waste stream.

We are proud to announce the completion of our Track Resurfacing Project, made possible through the generous support of a grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA). This initiative reflects our shared commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and community engagement.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Ohio EPA for their partnership and dedication to protecting Ohio’s natural resources. Together, we are taking meaningful steps toward a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future.
