Lady Falcons Finish Regular Season Undefeated, Will Host McKinley in District Semifinal

The Fitch softball team traveled to Painesville and put its undefeated season on the line against Division 2 powerhouse Riverside on Thursday. The Lady Beavers came into the game as the #3 ranked team in D-2 with a 23-3 record, but the Lady Falcons showed why they're ranked #1 in Division 1 and #3 among all schools in Ohio by pounding the Lady Beavers by a score of 8-0 to close the regular season with an unbeaten record of 22-0.
The game remained scoreless through three innings until Fitch got on the board with two runs in the top of fourth and then put up three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two more in the seventh. The 8-0 win marked the eighth shutout win of the season for the Lady Falcons who will enter the postseason running on all cylinders.
Seneca Coates and Morgan Roby led the scoring as each had a pair of RBI with Coates hitting a double and Roby netting two singles. Lily Stevens and Abby Toth both had 1 RBI and two singles while Annabel Mikesell singled once and picked up 1 RBI. Kylie Folkwein doubled twice with a single and a walk, and Kaliana Ray finished her day with 2 singles.
Freshman Mila Hamley threw a complete game one-hitter and gathered 11 strikeouts for her 18th win of the season.
The Lady Falcons will host #19 seeded Canton McKinley in the OHSAA Division 1 District Semifinal on Monday, May 18 with first pitch set for 5:00pm. Ticket information will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
