Lady Falcons Win District Title for Fifth Year in a Row

The Fitch softball team brought home another district title after winning the 2026 OHSAA Division 1 District Championship with a 4-1 victory over Perrysburg on Wednesday, marking the fifth time in as many seasons the Lady Falcons have won the district title.

Fitch got off to a quick start as senior Alyssa Rodgers hit a triple in the game's second at-bat and was immediately brought home by fellow senior Abby Toth who hit her fifth homerun of the season to give the Lady Falcons a 2-0 advantage to open the scoring. Annabel Mikesell would hit an RBI single later in the inning which scored Kylie Folkwein to make it a 3-0 advantage.

In the bottom of the second, it was Folkwein coming up with an RBI single to bring Rodgers home to put Fitch up 4-0 after two innings of play. In the top of the third, Perrysburg got a runner on base by way of an error and she would eventually score to cut the lead to 4-1. But, that would be the only time the Lady Yellow Jackets would pose a threat as the Fitch defense shut down their opponent the rest of the way to lay claim to the trophy.

Abby Toth led the Fitch scoring with a homerun and 2 RBI as Kylie Folkwein and Annabel Mikesell each had one RBI apiece with Folkwein hitting 2 singles and getting walked once and Mikesell claiming her RBI on a single. Alyssa Rodgers ended her day with a triple and a single while scoring two of the team's four runs. Morgan Roby and Kaliana Ray both singled once with Roby also getting on base with a walk.

With the win comes another trip to the Regional Semifinal which will be played on Wednesday, May 27 at Avon Lake. Fitch, still undefeated on the season with a 24-0 record, will face Berea-Midpark which got by Whitmer 3-2 in the other District Final. That game will be a rematch of the season opener in which the Lady Falcons blanked the Lady Titans by a score of 10-0. First pitch is set for 5:00pm.
