Lady Tigers Tear Up Fitch in Blowout Fashion

The Fitch girls basketball team traveled to Howland for an All-American Conference matchup on Wednesday looking for its third straight win. Instead, the Lady Tigers had their way with the Lady Falcons from the start en route to a 72-45 blowout win over Fitch. Howland had eight players put points on the scoreboard with three finishing in double digits in the process. The loss sends Fitch to 8-12 overall and 3-4 in league play.

Howland jumped out to a 21-13 lead at the end of one before outscoring the Lady Falcons by a similar score of 20-12 in the second quarter to head into the locker room with a 41-25 advantage. Fitch put up a 15-13 third quarter as the teams went into the final period with the visitors trailing 54-40. The Lady Tigers ran away to put the game away by owning the fourth quarter 18-5 to seal the 72-45 win.

Kylie Folkwein was the leading scorer for the Lady Falcons once again as she finished with 18 points while Kaliana Ray was close behind with 15. Amiya Harris put up 7 followed by Jeweliana Farmer and Maria Kouros with 2 points each, and Kaelyn Bower ending her night with 1.

The junior varsity squads played only two quarters prior to the varsity contest with the Lady Falcons coming out on top by a score of 16-12. Maria Kouros led the scoring with 8 points as Stevonna Wright, Ayanna Williams, Araya Hayes, and Aviella Swift all finished with 2 points apiece.

Fitch will celebrate the team's Class of 2026 when the Lady Falcons host Crestview for a Saturday afternoon affair on February 7. Senior Night festivities will take place at approximately 12:20pm, immediately following the JV game which tips off at noon. The varsity tipoff is set for approximately 12:45pm.
