Austintown Fitch Boy’s soccer fought hard tonight to earn a 4-3 over Eastlake North in OT. Opening the scoring for the falcons was Senior Ethan Macik who hammered home a volley off the throw-in assist from Junior Adam Emerick. Eastlake North battled back and scored the next 2 goals as the first half ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of Eastlake.
The Falcons came roaring back in the second half and pressured the Rangers from the beginning whistle of the second half until the last whistle to end the game. With 14 minutes left, Senior Andrew Lescsak evened up the score at 2 off an assist from Senior Alec Herman. Eastlake then took the lead with 9 minutes left in the game to go up 3-2. Alec Herman then got a goal for himself from a beautiful assist from Senior Marcus DeBaldo to even up the game 3-3 with 6 minutes left and that’s how regulation finished.
With 8 minutes left in the first overtime, the Falcons found themselves with a freekick just outside of the penalty box. Sophomore Josiah Berni took the free-kick and Junior Evan Sahli found the back of the net with his rebound shot to give the Falcons the WIN! The Falcons showed a lot of resolve and character tonight by coming back twice to earn the victory. Sophmore Jamey Sorrells added 5 big saves for the Falcons.
